I got to try out the Milk Chocolate Flavor, and here’s what I found out about the ingredient formula and what I thought about it: What’s Inside MuscleTech Micellar Whey? As the name implies, MuscleTech Micellar Whey provides 25 g of micellar whey protein, which is a whey protein that digests at a slower rate. Bodybuilders will often supplement with a micellar protein before bed so they can have a protein source digesting as they sleep. Micellar whey provides 2.7 g of leucine, 1.6 g of isoleucine, and 1.5 g of valine, for a total of 5.8 g of branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs). BCAAs are helpful for improving muscle recovery post-workout and also enhancing muscle protein synthesis. Each serving is 6 h of carbohydrates and 140 calories. While this isn’t necessarily high in calories and carbohydrates, it certainly isn’t as low as a whey protein isolate. Overall, the ingredient profile looks pretty good. If you are looking for some sustained release protein Micellar Whey by MuscleTech is definitely worth looking in to further. Flavor and Mixability I got to try the Milk Chocolate flavor. I mixed one scoop in 6 oz. of skim milk. The taste was pretty standard of a chocolate protein powder. It was tasty, with very little after taste. It mixed fairly well in my shaker cup. There were some slight clumps, however. But, I find that small clumps are fairly typical in basic protein powders. It definitely wasn’t an overwhelming amount, but it is worth noting it didn’t mix completely. If you are trying to watch your calories and carbohydrate consumption, you may want to mix MuscleTech Micellar whey with water. Final Thoughts MuscleTech Micellar Whey is a good protein supplement. The flavor is good, and so are the ingredients. There aren’t any filler or unnecessary ingredients in Micellar Whey’s formula, which is nice. A 2 lb. tub retails for about $35 and provides 25 servings. This is a slightly more expensive protein powder, but if you are looking for something other than a regular whey protein concentrate, MuscleTech Micellar whey might be worth it.
